Are you looking to plan a trip to the Mediterranean this year?

Or does someone in your family want to go for a cooler vacation and head to the French Alps? This is a common clash when choosing a vacation spot, as some people live for the heat, and others simply don’t want to be exposed to high temperatures when relaxing.

Rather than flip a coin, there is the option to look at what popular hot and cold vacation spots can offer you to see which will be more fun for everyone.

Here, two popular vacation spots (one hot and one cold) will be explored so you can assess which one could be the perfect vacation spot for you and your kids in 2025.

Mykonos, Greece

So, aside from the sand and heat, what else comes with this warmer vacation spot for your family?

Luxurious Villas

If you look at Mykonos luxury villas, you will undoubtedly see that they offer enough space for even the largest families to stay in them, without the need to share a cramped hotel room or separate hotel rooms. These villas can often accommodate baby-proofing adjustments, such as plug covers and temporary stair gates, meaning you don’t have to worry about your children getting injured. Also, as the villas are often fenced off, you can rest assured that you and your children won’t be disturbed while taking in the glorious sun. Be aware that you may have to pack more toys, as your kids will have enough room to play in these settings.

Water Sports

Mykonos is an island and, as you may have guessed, this means there are many sports around the sea. So, why not rent a jet ski and take the water with your kids? One beach in particular, Elia, is the longest sweep of the island, has perfect white sand, is fun to play in, and offers jet ski rentals.

Or, if your kids want to have a more involved experience at Mykonos, why not take them snorkeling? Almost every beach around the island can provide this, but many tourists aim to snorkel at Agios Sostis Beach and Kalfati Beach.

Boat Trips

Some kids want to see the water without going into it, and that’s okay. Mykonos can offer boat tours around the island, allowing you and your children to see the wildlife that dwells just offshore. A catamaran boat can take you to the nearby island of Rhenia, or, why not take part in the all-inclusive Delos and Rhenia islands tour? If your kids aren’t too enthralled, you can tell them that the bottlenose dolphin is the most spotted sea mammal around the island. That should get them excited about getting on the boats!

Vaujany and Alpe d’huez

Unsure if you want to go to the French Alps? Here are some fun reasons to do that, with some even appealing to young kids!

Skiing

One of the core parts of a vacation to Vaujany and Alpe d’Huez is skiing.

Luckily for tourists, this doesn’t mean you must be at the Olympic level to participate. These areas offer 250km of ski slopes, with challenges available for all ages, and Alpe d’Huez offers ski classes for people of all abilities. In Vaujany, there is also the option to take part in snowboarding, which can be fun for those who may not be too confident on a pair of skis!

Hikes (or snow shoeing)

If the idea of skiing fills you with dread, then don’t worry! There are plenty of things to do in Vaujany and Alpe d’Huez that don’t involve sledding down a mountain.

One way to see the area is by participating in one of the hikes, which allows you to put on snowshoes. You can go off by yourself to explore the Sarenne Gorge area or opt for a guided tour.

Drive a Dog Sled

Dog sleds are not only available in Alaska. You can be the musher of your pack of huskies and simply sit back in the sled with your family as the dogs pull you along. The best dog sled options start at the top of the Altiport near the Sarenne Gorge, but be aware that this is incredibly popular, and you will need to book your go with the huskies in advance!
