Immerse yourself in nature

Sometimes we forget to just 'take a minute' to take our surroundings in. When you are next outside do just this; soak it up and breath slowly, enjoy it. If you rarely take a second to admire the beautiful scenery enveloping you as you climb or race down the slopes, it may be time to appreciate your surroundings the next time you venture up the mountains. This can be done in a number of ways, for example, such as joining a nature walk, trying a different route for the first time, or simply enjoying a hot drink as you take it all in from a nearby café or restaurant. By doing so, you may be surprised at how many animals call the mountain their home as well as how much background activity you have missed during previous visits. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, it may benefit you to research alternative activities available during your next trip to the slopes.
Take a breather

It may sound boring but by taking a breather if and when you can, you can replenish your energy levels and prepare for your triumphant return to the slopes at a later date. This can range from taking a break from social media and sunbathing on a snow-capped mountain to playing the latest slots and bingo games at GGPoker. If you prefer to leave your phone at home, on the other hand, a local café or restaurant may be able to provide you with a number of board games or activities as an alternative to ‘digital gaming’. If you find skiing particularly stressful or suffer from altitude sickness on the other hand, taking a breather can be all it takes to replenish your energy levels and ensure you are raring to go when the time comes to hit the slopes yet again.
Enjoy a spa treatment

If you enjoy the finer things in life, a spa treatment may well be the answer to your prayers up the mountains. This is a great idea if you tend to avoid participating in skiing or high-risk activities with the potential to cause serious harm to your health and wellbeing. The vast majority of mountain-top hotels, spas, and lodges offer a wide variety of spa treatments and massages to repair your muscles after a long day on the slopes or just to provide you with a rare 60 minutes of zen during what has been an action-packed holiday. In addition, you may also be able to benefit from the natural environment with most mountain-top hotels, spas, and lodges offering treatments with ingredients drawn from the nearby slopes themselves.
Search out the history

Most places in the Alps are steeped with incredible history. Engaging with an areas passed, really gives you an insight into what has come to pass. Some areas were involved in the wars; strongholds, resistance up rising, front line travesty etc. Some areas revolve around farming and still do to this day. Some areas make their money solely from tourism with many places now being adventure and activity epicentres. Others are lucky to have deals with natural gas reserves or hydroelectric damns. But, how has the land been effected by all these things? What local flora and fauna are found hiding out in the mountains and what about the geology? Suss out these local gems, nuggets of information and you won't be dissapointed.
